Type Detective Journal Week 3

Type Detective Journal Week 3 This week I started to look at typography in a different way, mostly I looked at store logos and they're different designs and fonts. Just the other day I noticed that in the GameStop logo it used the Impact font, and that it was all together instead of it having space at the center. I also noticed that the space with all of the letters was close, I believe this is because of kerning.  As you can see the logo is using the Impact font although the letters seem to be closer to each other. I think that this logo is meant to emphasize attention with the red on the logo and probably to act now.   I am slowly starting to realize that typography plays a part in everyday life, from the number in your car's dashboard to the letters in a store logo. Typography is everywhere and it has a deeper meaning. I like the Impact font because of its boldness as well as its looks.

Pedro's Type Detective Journal Week 2   This week I learned more information about typography, I learned about calligraphy, the different kinds of it as well as how to write it.  This week a font stood out to me the most was the traditional Roman Font. I first saw it in a LinkedIn Learning course and then decided to look it up online where I found this. I think that it looks really sophisticated just like the Times New Roman font which is probably just this font but improved.  A font that I liked from a video game series was the font from the video game Minecraft. I like this font because it has details from game such as the A having the face of a monster or how all letters being stone.

Pedro's Type Detective Journal - Week 1    This week I started a typography journal were for my first entry I tried to make the fonts tell a story. I used different fonts ranging from a horror movie one, to futuristic, to western. I tried to make the fonts tell a story of their own, I consider my self a newbie artist because I struggle to draw correctly. I have never been a good artist but I hope to improve my skills in it this year. For one of the fonts, I tried to do a speedy font but I gave up because I could not draw it correctly, maybe some time throughout the week I can try again. Typography is an important piece of graphic design, it draws attention, shows personality, and as mentioned before, it tells a story.      A piece that I chose for this blog that uses typography really well was this movie poster for the 2014 film "The Lego Movie." I like the font on this because it is a bold font emphasizing that it is fun and it is also under construction ...
